How will I know when I have received the Salvation of the Lord
Our main scripture today is Genesis 15
We will also look at Romans 4:20-25; Galatians 3:6-9 and Hebrews 11. Additional scriptures include Romans 10:17 & James 2:26. Isaiah 61, Isaiah 30:27, Hebrews 12:29
The question we ask today is How can we discover if we are saved? How will be know when we receive our promise (salvation).
1) Genesis 15:6-8
a) How can we discover if we are saved? How will be know when we receive our promise (salvation)
b) Abraham was credited with righteousness (imputed) in Genesis 15:6
c) Imputed Righteousness
i) Credit Card Analogy (imputed Righteousness)
(1) Access, but no payment
(2) Insured against lost or stolen items
ii) Spiritual credit: Never have the pay the debt
d) Transferred righteousness- (imparted) example of the covenant
e) Righteousness was not given based on works but based on faith
2) Romans 4:20-25
a) Abraham is an example to us of faith
i) Similar examples of how to reach the promise
ii) Rom 4 tells us Abraham was the father of faith in that we may have access to faith so that we may believe in Jesus, who was delivered to death for our sins and raised again to secure our justification.
iii) Looking at Abrahamic example [Principles presented in the signs & symbols] can show us how we attain and are secure in our salvation and can be sure of it. Gal 3:6-9, Romans 4, Hebrews 11:1
